First mobility of our new cooperation with the University of Naples Federico II!

Last week, prof. G. Scherillo visited our researcher group and discussed the upcoming tasks in combining our expertise in the field of membranes, and also the mobility options for exchange students in both ways.
He also visited our college, Dr. Z. Hrdlicka from the Department of Polymers, to discuss options how to investigate the mechanical properties of our membranes.
We are looking forward for accelerating this fruitful cooperation by sending our students to Naples and hosting Italian students at our institute next year.

First mobility during our FAU-UCT project BTHA-AP-2025-22: Daniel visited FAU-TVT in Erlangen

Major progression has been made within our recently acquired project BTHA-AP-2025-22: Daniel spent 3 days visiting his former German colleges at the Institute of Separation Science and Technology – FAU Erlangen.

This meeting was focused on learning more about the HPLC, intense writing of an article based on our results and carefully planning the upcoming tasks.

Until November 2025, there will be 3 more mobilities included in this project, funded by the BTHA organisation.

Josef attended the EMS 2025 Summer School hosted by the University of Twente

Josef attended the The 40th European Membrane Society Summer School that was focused on the topic: “From Basic Principles towards Industrial Membrane Applications”.

It is a well-estabilished international membrane workshop event, which was this year organized and held at the University of Twente (Netherlands).

Over 80 promising students, postdocs and people from the industry attended this well-known membrane event with a common goal: to learn the latest developments about membranes and membrane industry in general. The workshop also included variety of social events, competitions and interactive scientific lectures.

New equipment at our group!

Our group recently expanded by a commercial analytical device: Electrochemical Impedance Spectrometer provided by Novocontrol Technologies.

It is top-quality, versatile technique for investigating the electrical properties of a variety of different materials by observing the applied AC potential to an electrochemical cell.

Karel participated at the 5th International Conference on Membrane and Separation Processes & 10th Membrane Conference of Visegrad Countries – MEMSEP & PERMEA 2025

Karel gave a scientific speech at the 5th International Conference on Membrane and Separation Processes & 10th Membrane Conference of Visegrad Countries – MEMSEP & PERMEA 2025, which was hosted this year in Poland.

His talk with the title ,,Tailoring the O₂/N₂ separation performance of mixed matrix membranes via magnetic field.” was focused on briefly introducing the audience with our newest materials, which were developed in our group, aiming for an improved air separation via membranes.

Great news from the M3-S conference!

Daniel is on a roll!
A prestigious travel grant by NAWA was granted to Daniel, that made it possible for him to attend the M3-S conference and give a scientific presentation.
The conference was held in Toruń (Poland) and organized by the group of prof. Kujawski and the Polish Membrane Society.
For his talk, he got awarded by the Young Researcher Award provided by Clean Technologies Journal from it’s chief Editor Patricia Luis Alconero!
His presentation included results of the newly-estabilished cooperation between our group at UCT and the TVT group at FAU Erlangen in Germany!

Accelerating in international cooperations: FAU-UCT project entitled BTHA-AP-2025-22: “Novel precisely tunable 2D-membranes for targeted liquid separation via ultrafiltration”

We are pleased to announce that in cooperation with colleagues from Friedrich-Alexander-Universität (FAU) in Erlangen, we will address the joint FAU-UCT project entitled BTHA-AP-2025-22: “Novel precisely tunable 2D-membranes for targeted liquid separation via ultrafiltration”, which has received the maximum possible funding of 5 thousand Euros from BTHA as part of the call for support of Czech-Bavarian academic projects in 2025 (https://www.btha.cz/cs/granty/akademicke-projekty).
The project is planned for the period from June to November 2025.

Dan attended the 34th meeting of the North American Membrane Society (NAMS)

Dan attended the 34th meeting of the North American Membrane Society (NAMS) in Nashville, Tennessee, May 17-21, 2025, with the poster “A Novel Possible Application for 2D Carbon-Based Membranes in the Ultrafiltration Process.”
His work summarized the collaboration with the FAU Erlangen, Germany, where he spent one year as the Bayern-Czech BTHA fellowship awardee.

LuxHyVal project consortium meeting at UCT Prague

Our group hosted the LuxHyVal project consortium meeting at UCT Prague on May 13th and 14th, 2025. Many thanks to our colleagues from Luxembourg, France, Spain, Ukraine, and Germany, meeting guests Markéta Revíková from MPO ČR and Martin Paidar from HYTEP for participating, and our team for contributing to the smooth proceedings.
