Karel participated in The North American Membrane Society 31st annual meeting “Membranes for sustainability” in Tempe, Arizona. He has presented an oral lecture on the topic of “Metal ions-doped ultrahigh flux composite GO-SWCNT membranes for efficient H2 separation and a poster of his doctoral student Saeed work on the topic of Magneto-responsive polycrystalline Co0.5Ni0.5FeCrO4: Synthesis, dispersion control, and its tunability into CTA polymer matrix under the augmented-magnetic field for CO2 capturing and H2 separation applications.

The grant proposal which was prepared by Karel and Saeed from UCT and Prof. Dinca from MIT (USA) was approved by MISTI Global seed Funds Awards. The UCT-MIT teams will have cross-functional collaboration and work on “Clean Energy Applications with Mixed Matrix Membranes of 2D MOFs”. This indeed gives and creates lots of opportunities for the UCT and MIT sides.
Saeed Jamali Ashtiani has successfully passed a multi-stage process at UCT Prague, Czech Republic, and Max-Plack-Society levels and he has been selected to participate in the 71st Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting.
Saeed was awarded Emil Votocek scholarship for 2022. The scholarship is intended for the best 20 Ph.D. students from UCT Prague faculties.
Karel Friess and Tereza-Markéta Durďáková participated at Euromembrane 2021 (Copenhagen, Denmark, 28.11.-2.12.2021). Tereza-Markéta presented the lecture on the topic “Perstraction and
Pervaporation: Two Approaches for Xylene Isomers Separation” and Karel spoke about “Metal ions-doped ultrahigh flux composite graphene oxide/carbon nanotubes (GO-SWCNT) membranes for targeted gas separations”
Saeed was awarded a Travel Grant within the PROM project funded by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange for the Membrane Materials – Modification and Separation conference (6th -8th September 2021, Torun, Poland).
Daniel presented his work on “Preparation and Characterization of Membranes Based on Graphene Oxide and Carbon Nanotubes for H2 Separation From Gas Mixtures” at Membrane Materials – Modification and Separation Conference (Torun, 6-8.9.2021). His presentation was awarded as 2nd Best Oral Presentation by Polish Membrane Society.
Karel (oral presentation) and Tereza-Markéta (poster presentation) participated at the Czech membrane conference Mempur 2021 focus on Membrane processes for sustainable development.
