Our visiting postdoc Dr. Knozowska is about to leave our group after her successful stay

We would like to say farewell to our visiting postdoc, Dr. Katarzyna Knozowska, who spent a month in our group.

The main focus of her stay was to expand her knowledge in gas separation and luckily, this aim was met and the cooperation will go on.

To show our gratitude and say goodbye to Kasia, we organised her a fun afternoon combined with bowling.

Thank you for everything and see you soon!

Jana and Josef participated at Imagine Membrane 2025

This september, Jana and Josef had the chance to participate and present their latest results at the Imagine Membrane 2025 conference.

The conference itself aims to connect top researchers working with membranes from mainly from Northern America and Europe as by tradition, it is co-organised by the EMS and the NAMS community. IM2025 took place in Portugal, at Angra do Heroísmo, island of Terceira (Azores) 14-19 September 2025.

Jana and Josef both presented their results with a poster.

Amazing news from the conference MEMPUR2025 – Adéla won the Best Student Presentation Award!

Our undergraduate student, who just recently defended her bachelor thesis and started her master studies, attended the biggest national conference focused on membranes MEMPUR 2025 and returned home with an award!

This was her very first conference to attend and we are extremely proud to share that she won the Best Student Presentation Award.

She was in the same category as fellow Master and Ph.D. students coming from Czechia and Slovakia too.

Congratulations Adéla, well deserved.

Warm welcome to our visiting postdoc Dr. Katarzyna Knozowska from Toruń, Poland

We would like to introduce you to our visiting postdoc, Dr. Katarzyna Knozowska, who is coming from the polish Membranes and Membrane Techniques Research Group led by prof. W. Kujawski.

Katarzyna is an expert in polymer chemistry and applications such as membrane distillation. The main aim of her visit is to expand her knowledge in gas separation.

She will be staying in our lab for 1 month as a postdoc.

Third mobility during our FAU-UCT project BTHA-AP-2025-22: Johannes and prof. M. Kaspereit from FAU-TVT visited our lab in Prague

More updates from our recently acquired project with Germany!    BTHA-AP-2025-22: In September 2025, Johannes Wieczorek and his supervisor prof. M. Kaspereit from FAU-TVT Erlangen spent 2 days at the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague, Department of Physical Chemistry visiting our lab.

This meeting was focused on polishing the writing our joint article based on our results, and to further explore options to increase our future cooperation.

We also had the chance to visit the Group of Separation Methods led by prof. D. Sýkora from the Department of Analytical Chemistry, to demonstrate possible options to cooperate.

After the meetings, we spent time together to digest all the information by attending self-organised tour in the Old Town area, combined with a walk in the Letná park and finished the evening with a wonderful dinner by the river.

The final meeting of our joint project will be realised in November 2025, by prof. Friess and Daniel visiting the TVT group in Erlangen.

We acknowledge that the funding was provided by the BTHA organisation.

A significant visit from Alberta, Canada

In August 2025, Professor Mohtada Sadrzadeh from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Alberta (Canada) visited our group.

Prof. Sadrzadeh is the principal investigator from the Advanced Water Research Lab (www.awrl.ca).

The visit aimed to explore possible scientific cooperation between our groups and also international mobility for students and researchers.

NCHU scholarship was granted to Jana to attend their Summer Camp 2025 in Taiwan!

Amazing news! Jana became a NCHU (National Chung Hsing University) scholarship holder!

Thanks to this scholarship, she had the opportunity to attend their annual Summer Camp and spend two unforgettable weeks in Taiwan.

This summer camp included various lab sessions, presentations by students and experts from the field, learning more about asian culture and also networking while making new friends and connections in the world of membranes.

You can find a video summary of this camp under this link and more information under this link.

Dan published his second 1st author paper at the Journal of Separation and Purification Technology

Congratulations to Dan and all co-authors! Our invented concept of the GO-SWCNT platform for membranes has been further tuned by adding an inorganic additive and published in the ,,Special Issue of the conference EuroMembrane 2024 – Membrane Processes Help Solving Today’s Issues” at the Journal Separation and Purification Technology!
