Saeed Ashtiani Jamali, our Ph.D. student, has been awarded by Emil Votoček scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to the best 20 Ph.D. students at UCT Prague and is mainly reflecting their exceptional publication activities.
Martina defended her Ph.D. Thesis on 21st December 2020. Congratulation!
There was an online seminar based on the cooperation between Dr. Jason E. Bara (University of Alabama), Dr. Pavel Izak (Instittue of Chemical Process Fundamentals of the CAS) and Assoc. Prof. Karel Friess. Karel presented the topic: “CARBON- & GRAPHENE-BASED MATERIALS FOR EFFECTIVE GAS MEMBRANE SEPARATION?”.

For excellent results and contribution in research, experimental development and innovations in the area of natural sciences, Karel Friess was awarded by Robert Plaga – Minister of Education, Youth and Sports of Czech Republic.
Karel Friess gave an online plenary lecture on ULTRAPERMEABLE COMPOSITE MEMBRANES BASED ON CARBON NANOTUBES AND GRAPHENE OXIDE: THE EFFECT OF METAL ION CONTENT ON H2/CO2 SEPARATION PERFORMANCE at the MELPRO 2020 online conference.
Karel has been elected as a member of European Membrane Society Council for period from 2021 to 2024.
Karel Friess gave his professor’s lecture to the Scientific Council of the University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague, and after a unanimous vote, he will be nominated to the President of the Czech Republic for appointment as a professor.
Valérie Smeliková, Jan Polena and Jan Praus successfully defended their bachelor thesis. Congratulations!
In January 2020, our group started a new project from program INTER-ACTION (LTAUSA19038), New membrane materials for effective separation of acid pollutants from air and modeling of the separation process (Nové membránové materiály pro efektivní separaci kyselých polutantů ze vzduchu a modelování separačního procesu). The topic will be solved in cooperation with research groups of Pavel Izák, Ph.D, DSc. (Institute of Chemical Process Fundamentals, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, v.v.i. ) and Associate professor Dr. Jason E.Bara from The University of Alabama, College of Engineering, Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering. The project period is from 1.1.2020 – 31.12.2022.
