We are honored to announce that today, August 12, 2026, the founder of our working group and a very important academic person in the history of UCT Prague, Associate Professor Milan Šípek, celebrates a significant life anniversary – his 90th birthday!

The domestic and foreign academic community (not only) in the field of Membrane Separation Processes is indebted to the birthday for his contribution, energy, and ideas, with which he significantly influenced the education and research of many generations of students, graduate students, colleagues from the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Institute of Chemical Technology, as well as other domestic and foreign scientists.

Moreover, Milan is also the co-founder of the legendary carnival Kachekran.

Since 1959, he has carried on a more than fifty-year tradition of carnival festivities, masquerade balls, humorous musical performances, as well as figure roller-skating competitions, in which academic staff and students not only from our university were and are widely involved. Currently, students at all faculties of UCT Prague have been competing for the Šípek Cup every year for more than 10 years.

We congratulate you on your 90th birthday and wish you good health, unwavering optimism, good luck, and well-being.
