Amazing achievement! Jana became a recipient for the Barrande Fellowship Programme!

Our Jana is on a roll!

She got recently chosen for the prestigious Barrande Fellowship Programme for a short term research stay and will spend her entire autumn doing research in France.

The award ceremony took place at the building of the French Embassy in Prague and was presented by the French Ambassador to Czech Republic himself.

The fellowship is provided jointly by the Embassy of France to the Czech Republic and the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MYES) and aims to provide oustanding Ph.D. students in the Czech Republic with opportunities to study in France and Ph.D. students in France with opportunities to study in the Czech Republic.

LuxHyVal project got a green light for the last phase of the project

We are happy to share, that the construction of the first Hydrogen Valley in Luxembourg (LuxHyVal) got funded and its about to start soon!

Thanks to these good news Dániel (Postdoc) and Martin (starting his Ph.D.) will both start working on this from July 2026.

Their task will be closely associated with the plant itself and their main role is to perform a high-quality feasibility study about the technology itself.

” 💧Construction of the country’s first green hydrogen production facility is set to begin after Enovos Luxembourg gave the green light to the LuxHyVal project. Jana is on a 3-month long internship in Portugal!

Take a sneak peak into Jana’s Erasmus+ internship at the group of prof. J. Crespo at Universidade Nova de Lisboa – Portugal.

   

Her 3-month long stay is focused on developing new materials by using a device employing controlled magnetic fields for a fine deposition of nanoparticles.

Yet, when abroad, it is also important to visit wonderful places and explore the local culture.

   

Except for the nice places, we are extremely proud to add that our Jana also just completed a half marathon run – achieving very good results in her category.

Dániel successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis

On the 22nd of May 2026, Dániel successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis called “New nanostructured carbon nanotubes-based composite membranes for selective gas separation”. His work was supervised by prof. K. Friess.

Congratulations to Dániel for reaching such a milestone in his researcher career!

           

Karel participated at the LuxHyVal consortium meeting in Bordeaux – France

On May 18-20, a meeting of the LuxHyVal consortium members took place in Bordeaux, which Karel attended.

In addition to visiting the institution involved in the project (University of Bordeaux), the HDF Energy manufacturing site in Blanquefort and the CNRS research institute “Institut de Chimie de la Matière Condensée de Bordeaux” were also visited.

Josef won the Membrane Day 2026 Competition by CZEMP!

Our 3rd year Ph.D. candidate Josef Schneider won the Membrane Day 2026 Competition by CZEMP and was awarded with 1000 EUR.

This competition was created to honor the memory of prof. Enrico Driolo, one of the very first European pioneer in Membrane engineering, one the most extinguished recognised scientist in our field.

Huge congratulations to Pepa! Well done!

Review article published by our group!

We are happy to share that our review paper on the advances of MOF materials just got published at the Q1 journal called Journal of Membrane Science Letters!

The title of the paper is ,, Metal-Organic Framework-Enabled Mixed Matrix Membranes: Recent Breakthroughs, Limitations, and Interfacial Engineering for Gas Separation ”.

Congratulations to the first author Dr. S. Ashtiani and also to the fellow co-authors.

A new Ph.D. student joined our group!

We are happy to share that our former student M.Sc. Stanislav Kočí decided to pursue a Ph.D. within our group.

He will be focusing mostly on pertraction and pervaporation processes.
